What is Rotaract?

Rotaract is an International organization for men and women aged between 18-30 as well as a social and community based club.  Worldwide, there are over 100,000 Rotaractors, of who about 5,000 belong to clubs in Great Britain.  Our aim is to have fun whilst helping other people, hence our motto: -

"FELLOWSHIP THROUGH SERVICE"

For many, Rotaract has given them an opportunity to make new friends, become involved in the community and participate in some rather wild fundraising events.  For example a few years ago we raised £10,000 by joining other Rotaract clubs in our district and throughout the country and bought a Rotaract Lifeboat.

HITCHIN ROTARACT- FUNDRAISING

Hitchin Rotaract has been running for over 23 years and currently has 9 members.  All our members have always been keen to raise money for local charities, and during the past few years the following charities have received donations ranging from £500-£1000: -

             - Counterstroke Lister Hospital Appeal

            - MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS THERAPY CENTRE IN LETCHWORTH

            - SPECIAL NEEDS TOY LIBRARY

            - MULBERRY BUSH APPEAL

            - LIBRA CLUB

            - NATIONAL CHILDREN’S HOME

            - GARDEN HOUSE HOSPICE

This year we are raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Letchworth and Marie Currie Cancer.   Annually we organize a range of activities to raise money.  In the past we have done car parking, car washes and car boot sales.
